The Cabin In The Woods (Part 2)
In Part 1 of this blog I talked about the view of God presented in the movie The Cabin In The Woods. I left you with three questions:
- What do you believe about God?
- How does He relate to you?
- More importantly, how does your belief of how He views you change how you relate to Him?
Now that you’ve had a chance to think let’s see what God thinks of you (and me). The majority of what is below is found in the book of Ephesians.
- You are set apart (Eph 1:1)
- You are faithful (Eph 1:1)
- You are blessed with every spiritual blessing (Eph 1:3)
- You were chosen before the creation of the world to be with God (Eph 1:4,11)
- You are blameless (Eph 1:4)
- You are adopted into God’s family (Eph 1:5)
- God freely lavishes His grace on you (Eph 1:6,7)
- You are redeemed (Eph 1:7)
- You are forgiven (Eph 1:7)
- God has let you in on the secret to His will (Eph 1:9)
- You are the praise of His glory (Eph 1:12)
- You were given His Spirit (Eph 1:13)
- You have a guaranteed inheritance (Eph 1:14)
- God has great love for you (Eph 2:4)
- You are seated with Christ in heaven (Eph 2:6)
- God has saved you (Eph 2:5)
- God has brought you near to Him (Eph 2:13)
- There is no wall between God and you (Eph 2:14)
- You have direct access to the Father (Eph 2:18)
- You are a citizen of God’s country (Eph 2:19, Phil 3:20, Col 1:13)
- You can approach God with freedom and confidence (Eph 3:12)
- You are firmly established in His love (Eph 3:17)
- You are complete, lacking in nothing (Col 2:10)
- He sees you as perfect (Heb 10:14)
Oh yes, and God doesn’t lie (Num 23:19). This is a far cry from the view of God presented in the movie.
God revealed the weight of these truths to Janet in an exercise class. As she reached for her toes God whispered to her, “I see you as perfect, pure, white as the driven snow.” She laughed quietly to herself, “Oh that’s rich; yeah, right.” God quietly responded to her, “I went to the cross so I could see you that way.”
About twenty minutes before she and our son were discussing the importance of being in 100% agreement with God. Now she was challenged. Could she see herself they way God sees her? Could she be in 100% agreement with God?
God is actively involved in our lives. He is interested in our best. Most importantly, like all good parents, he is crazy about His children, and that is you and I, 100% of the time.
